New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers is slated to speak
to the benefits of psychedelics as it relates to physical performance
at a conference in Denver Wednesday hosted
by a psychedelic advocacy group.
Rodgers has been incredibly transparent about his usage and succeeding affinity for
psychedelics, including ayahuasca.
The four-time MVP first revealed his experiences on the ,
followed by the Joe Rogan Experience - both in August 2022 - explaining the benefits he received
from the psychoactive drink, readily used in Amazonian culture.
Psychedelic Science 2023 is a five-day gathering of members
of the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies -- the largest
advocacy group in the U.S.
-- and a mixture of researchers, therapists, politicians and 'psychedelic enthusiasts', which is where Rodgers comes in.
As per the conference schedule, Rodgers and his friend Marcus will
be keynote speakers on 'How Psychedelics Can Unlock Elite Performance' at the Bellco Theater
Wednesday from 5.15pm.
Aaron Rodgers has been incredibly transparent regarding his usage & beliefs in psychedelics
The pair are set to discuss the inherent connection between cognitive wellness and elite
performance and delve into how they both 'unlock greater levels of mental health, clarity
of purpose, and elite performance' through psychedelics.
The conference began at the Colorado Convention Center June 19 and will finish June 23.
Not only will it provide guest speakers, but attendees have the opportunity to
attend classes and workshops.
In recent months, Colorado has decriminalized
the use of psychedelic mushrooms. Joining Rodgers as a speaker at the forum are former Texas
Republican Gov.
Rick Perry and Jaden Smith, the son of Will.
The conference, and the thousands expected to attend it, are
an indication of the creep, or perhaps leap, of cultural acceptance
for psychedelic substances that proponents say may
offer benefits for things like post-traumatic stress disorder and alcoholism.
According to the Psychedelic Science
Remaining tickets for the event include a Community Pass
which enables access to the remaining conference programs, among others, costing $905. A more accessible pass, strictly for Friday's
events, is available for $199.
In shift that could significantly impact the college football-recruiting
landscape, highly touted high school quarterback Jaden Rashada has been released from his National Letter
of Intent by the Florida Gators over issues with an endorsement deal connected
to his initial decision to attend the school.
Rashada's decision came after the Gator Collective — an independent fundraising
group that's loosely tied to the university and pays student-athletes for use of their name, image and likeness — failed to honor a four-year deal worth more than $13
million, according to a person familiar with the situation. The person spoke to The
Associated Press on condition of anonymity because neither
side acknowledged the split publicly.
The high-profile case will, at the very least, prompt changes at Florida.
It also could lead to a lawsuit and potentially an NCAA investigation.

WHAT HAPPENED?
Rashada switched his verbal commitment from Miami to Florida on Nov.
10. Rashada, his representatives and the Gator
Collective had presumably agreed to terms on a lucrative NIL deal at the
time of his flip.
One of Florida's top boosters, millionaire businessman Hugh Hathcock, tweeted 'Tomorrow will be
a Great Day Gator Fans!!!' the night before Rashada's announcement.
The following day, less than five hours before Rashada publicly
announced his flip, Hathcock tweeted 'All Good!!!
Just a little longer!!!'
The deal fell apart less than a month later. The Athletic reported that Gator Collective CEO Eddie Rojas sent a termination letter
to Rashada and his reps on Dec.
7. It's unclear why the deal crumbled, but a source with knowledge of the negotiations told
the AP that not all of the financial backers were aware that the signed deal had increased
from roughly $5 million over four years to more than $13 million.
Rashada failed to enroll with other signees days after
playing in a Jan. 3 all-star game in nearby Orlando.
The 19-year-old eventually returned to the West Coast.
WHO IS RASHADA?
Rashada is a five-star QB prospect from Pittsburg, California, who is ranked 29th
overall by 247Sports in the 2023 recruiting class.
His father, Harlen Rashada, played defensive back at Arizona State (1992-94).
The 6-foot-4, 185-pound Jaden Rashada threw for 5,275 yards at Pittsburg last season, with 59 touchdowns
and 18 interceptions.
His initial decision to come to Florida was considered a boon for first-year Gators coach
Billy Napier, and Rashada was expected to compete with Wisconsin transfer Graham
Mertz for the starting job at Florida, which has now lost five
scholarship quarterbacks in the past 10 months.
Starter Anthony Richardson left early to enter the NFL draft, backup
Jalen Kitna was dismissed following his arrest on child pornography charges, and Emory Jones
and Carlos Del Rio-Wilson transferred last spring.
Florida also had its eye on Tulane's Michael Pratt and Wake Forest's Sam Hartman, but Pratt ended up
back at Tulane and Hartman landed at Notre Dame.
The Gators also missed out on former LSU quarterback Walker Howard, who is transferring to Mississippi despite
a lengthy relationship with Napier.

WHAT'S NEXT?
Rashada is free to enroll elsewhere without having to enter the
transfer portal.
He already has been linked to Arizona State and Washington.
What remains to be seen is whether Rashada sues the Gator Collective,
along with possibly the athletic department and the university, in hopes of getting at least
part of the $13 million he was promised.
He could conceivably ask for more if he believes his reputation was damaged.
The Gators still could use help at the all-important QB position with just three scholarship quarterbacks:
Mertz, Miller and redshirt freshman Max Brown. The bigger question: How will Rashada's failed recruitment affect future prospects?
WHAT'S THE POTENTIAL FALLOUT?
Florida already plans to encourage its collectives to make changes, with one
potential one being a merger between the Gator
Collective and the more exclusive Gator Guard.
Personnel moves within the collective also are expected.
The NCAA might investigate, too. The sanctioning body has rules regarding NIL deals.
Boosters and NIL entities are not allowed to engage in recruiting conversations or activities
regarding prospective student-athletes, and no promises can be made between family members and boosters or NIL entities that are contingent on the
prospective student-athlete's enrollment at an institution.
Collectives have circumvented those rules
with zip code clauses, according to Florida-based attorney Darren Heitner,
who works with the Gator Collective.
The clauses use contract language to stipulate that student-athletes must reside in a certain jurisdiction for agreements to be payable.

One image of a fanatic with a knife chasing a Santa Claus comes with
the caption: 'You disbelieving dogs which prepared for
Christmas celebrations, be ready for shedding the blood scattering the shreds and funerals, for the eyes of caliphate lions are looking straight towards you and promise you with bitter
deaths.'
Another caption threatens: 'We will make your New Year mayhem
with bombings and trampling attacks.'
The warnings come after an ISIS extremist drove a lorry through a packed Christmas
market in Berlin, killing 12 people
And a third warns: 'Your celebrations have become a battlefield
and a fighting area. So, wait for us.'
It comes after German authorities beefed up security for New
Year's eve celebrations in Berlin on Saturday after last
week's truck attack, deploying police with machine guns and securing the
festive zone around the Brandenburg Gate
with concrete slabs.
'This year, what's new is that we will place concrete blocks and position heavy armoured vehicles at the
entrances' of the celebration zone, a Berlin police spokesman said.
While the number of police officers deployed will remain close to last year's figure of around 1,000, this year, 'at least some of them will be standing there with machine guns,
' he added.
Germany had already put in place heightened security measures during last year's celebrations, following the November 13 attack in Paris.
Revellers will once again not be allowed to bring in backpacks or large bags.
All forms of pyrotechnics and potentially dangerous objects such as glass bottles will also be banned at this
year's event where hundreds of thousands of people are expected.
One image, showing a militant stamping on a Father
Christmas hat, comes with the words: 'Our lions will have revenge in your
Christmases'
Questions surrounding security are high on the agenda after the December 19 attack, when Tunisian national Anis
Amri allegedly hijacked a truck and drove it into a Berlin Christmas market, killing 12 people.
Amri, 24, went on the run and was the focus of a four-day manhunt before being shot dead
by police in Milan, northern Italy, after opening fire first.
The Berlin rampage was claimed by the Islamic State group, which released a video last Friday in which
Amri is shown pledging allegiance to IS chief Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.
In the immediate aftermath of the attack, police officers armed with machine
guns were seen patrolling the streets in downtown Berlin.
